What is the full form of IPS?

IAS full form is Indian Police Service and it is one of the three All India Services(IAS, IPS, IFoS).

The Indian Police Service(IPS) is the Indian Police Forces’ management cadre, and officers chosen as IPS provide leadership to the Indian Police Forces. IPS officers will work with both the federal government and the states.

The Indian Police Service was established in 1948, one year after India became independent.

During British rule, the Indian Police Service was referred to as the Indian Imperial Police.

Indian Police Service is regulated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

To become an IPS officer, a candidate must pass the Union Public Services Commission’s Civil Services Examination (UPSC). Other services, such as the IAS, IRS, and IFoS, need the Civil Services Examination to apply. Every year, the UPSC conducts the Civil Services Examination.
